Kyrgyz industrial enterprises spent 13.05 billion som on innovations in 2025, yet only 4.3% of the 916 surveyed companies engaged in innovation activities. A year earlier, this figure stood at 3.8%. These are the findings of the National Statistical Committee.

A total of 39 enterprises developed and implemented innovations. For 38 of them, innovation processes were at the completion stage. Over the year, companies mastered and launched 25 new types of products.

Statisticians recorded the highest activity in the production of food products, rubber and plastic products, coal and lignite mining, and the chemical industry.

The highest number of innovation-active enterprises operated in the Chui region at 25. There were eight in the Batken region and three in the Naryn region.

At the same time, the volume of shipped innovative products amounted to just 4.9 million som. All of it was sold for export. The production of such goods was concentrated in Bishkek, with private enterprises accounting for virtually the entire volume.

The manufacturing sector accounted for the bulk of innovation expenditures at 97.5%. Enterprises producing rubber and plastic products directed the most funds at 56.1%, followed by food products and beverages at 35.4%, and textile products at 2.3%.

Research and development of new products and services were carried out by 18 enterprises. They spent 7.73 billion som for these purposes. Another 11 companies purchased machinery and equipment worth 5.31 billion som. Only one enterprise purchased new technologies, channeling 4.1 million som into it.

Statistics also revealed gaps in the expenditure structure. In 2025, the surveyed enterprises did not allocate funds for production engineering, staff training and preparation, or marketing research related to innovations.

🧭
Companies covered almost all costs of innovation activity using their own funds at 12.74 billion som, or about 98% of the total volume.

The state budget allocated 57.2 million som for innovation projects. These funds were received by enterprises engaged in waste collection, processing, and disposal, as well as the recovery of secondary raw materials.

Credits and loans for innovation activity accounted for 255.6 million som. Extrabudgetary funds did not finance such activities.
The National Statistical Committee notes that the introduction of innovations in the industry of the Kyrgyz Republic remains at a low level. Among the main obstacles, statisticians cite a shortage of own funds, the high cost of innovations, insufficient budget support, economic risks, long payback periods for investments, and dependence on imported technologies.
